hehe, no worries .... it was just something was said in the newsletter which I thought was quite funny.

I am a moderately big fan though. Mainstream is in my top 10 songs ever.

I have the album, no idea how I came across her though (it must have been either an Amazon one or she supported someone I saw).

It's good, every now and again I'll listen to it and love it.

I like Songs From The Gutter more than Avalanche, but both are great albums. I saw her last summer on what will probably be her last U.S. tour given how few people were there. :( And I really regret not buying any albums that day, because all her other discs are virtually non-existent in the States. Really looking forward to her new one though.

Nice little piece, double page spread in the independent today about her ... with definite parallels to be drawn with someone else we know and love

edit: reading it again, one could almost replace Thea with Beth

This album is awesome. :)

I know, I'm a bad person. But as of now it doesn't look like this is coming out in the U.S. anytime soon :( Stupid record companies...

I haven't acquired it yet, I did swear that I was gonna wait until the release of Harpo's Ghost, but I have no willpower. I listened to two of the tracks that were legitimately released, and I am thinking that if these are meant to be album tracks, it is gonna blow away anything released this year

Yeah, it's really, really good.

I still haven't been able to find her earlier albums besides "Songs From The Gutter" and "Avalanche." Damn record companies...eventually I'll find a reasonably priced copy of the new one, but right now it's not looking good.

But you Brits enjoy yourselves. :)

Walrus--
Have you checked here? I was searching for something else, but typed in "Thea Gilmore" having just read these posts. Looks to be a few dollars cheaper than Amazon.

I promise I won't laugh. When I was out on the trails this weekend, for part of the journey the two clearest stations I could get on my FM-Walkman were '70s/'80s stations, and I swear I heard "Rosanna" three times in two days (after not hearing that song for 10-15 years, I'll bet). Actually not a bad song if your hiking/running/biking. I put much of Van Halen's catalog in that same category...

I went to Austria a few years ago to foolishly chase after a girl (long story), but while I was there, the people we were hanging out with and jamming with were obsessed with Toto and Steve Lukather, because they're still pretty big over there. So I heard all these album tracks and newer songs and whatnot, and it totally blew me away. There is so much more to that band than "Africa" and "Rosanna" that most people have never heard. Also, they kill live...you basically have 5 of the most accomplished and virtuistic musicians on the planet all playing together...it's pretty sweet. :)

OHMYGOD!!! The best record shop around. The hidden treasures are endless, hope you find it.

I get most of my Thea stuff through Amazon UK..... they just posted Harpo's Ghost a few days ago.
