I got a call last night from a dear friend of mine. His name is Ed, and everybody calls him Bid. He told me he has cancer of the esophagus.
I have known Bid ever since I was 10 years old. I lost track of him after high school, and caught back up with him about five years ago. It was like the time had never passed. We caught back on with each other without a hitch.
I think God has a plan for all of us, and in the case of Bid and our friendship...well, like I said...it's all in God's plan.
Well, we talked last night. We laughed, we cried, we talked some more. I told Bid that he was in my prayers, and sure enough he was. I have had trouble thinking about anything else since last night.
My question is...can I rely on all of you to say a prayer for Bid as well? It would mean so much to me, and I'm sure that it would mean a whole bunch to Bid also.
Thanks so much...God bless you all. And be sure to remember your own friends, too.
:peace: Peace,

Rob

I just got off the phone with my friend. He is going to have surgery and the one tech person said that what they had to do would be short, and relatively easy.
He is attacking this cancer and will not give up. After surgery will be followup treatment. I'm confident that he is in good hands.
Your prayers are appreciated.

I don't normally either Rob, but I shall tonight as I know that friends and cancer is a truly horrible combination for everyone concerned.

My buddy had his surgery, and now he has complications. He has developed pneumonia, and has to be opened back up for more surgery.
We are crossing our fingers for a miracle. In the meantime, he is sedated and toughing it out.
I wish I was there to hold his hand, but that is not possible. Let's just hope for the best, and put it all in God's hands.
God's speed, Bid :peace:

Best wishes to your friend. I've read a few things about people with esophegeal cancer recently and it sounds like one of the worst cancers you can get. I hope that the fact that Bid has fought on for this long is a hopeful sign. :peace:

Thank you for thinking of Bid, TJ. He is a great guy, and a Beth Orton convert.
He has had his followup surgery, and now he needs to mend and get his strength back. I got a call from his girlfriend last night, and she went to see him with Bid's brother.
He's a long way off, but I feel he will make it. As for how much time he has left, well, that is up to the good Lord.

I have some rather encouraging news about Bid. He had a very good day yesterday and is no longer sedated. He is aware and alert.
He has had a slight infection, and for that reason he has a tube down his throat, making it temporarily impossible to speak. But he is mouthing words.
I'd like to thank all of you who prayed for him, and also those who left positive thoughts.
No doubt he's gonna get through this. I'll let him know about each and every one of you. I'll also ask him to join this forum. I'm sure he'd like to know you guys. :)
