As Beth seems to be socialising like a teenager again perhaps we need a thread to keep track on her

Quote:

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds closed the eleven night London iTunes festival with a raucous set at London's Air Studios last night (March 2).

Cave backed by the full electric band played several tracks from their new studio album Dig!!! Lazurus, Dig!!!, including the title track and first single 'Dig Lazurus Dig!!!' and the brilliant 'We Call Upon The Author'.

Cave, suited and booted and in top entertainment mode, made several jokes about the fact the show was being recorded to the 100-strong audience made up of competition winners and invited guests, including singers Beth Orton and Duffy.

Nice idea, Si!

I think it's great that she's out and about, doing a bit of this and a bit of that. It bodes well for the year ahead!

And I bet she's trying out those new songs off the next album on the unsuspecting folk of Notting Hill and Liverpool!

Sort of like Gawker Stalker, only Beth-specific. I nominate Si as most likely to be hit with a restraining order. :wot:

...at London's Air Studios...

That is one of the coolest buildings in London, if not on Earth. On three different trips to London (sadly though, not in the last ten years) I stayed at a hotel a couple of blocks from the place, and remember the first time I walked past being awestruck by the architecture. Then I found out what it was and became more intrigued. I fantasized that had I been born with musical talent (or bothered to develop whatever latent talent I might have) and gotten a recording contract, I would record my albums there.

Nice slide show here.

(In contrast I also once made the obligatory tourist pilgrimage to Abbey Road, and unless you are a connoisseur of graffiti, there is really nothing to get excited about there.)

I made that 'pilgrimage' once, with the added benefit of getting in! It was for a recording of john Otway's b-side for his 2nd 'hit', and all the 'audience/choir' got named on the insert of the CD single.

Guitar-shopping last week on Staten Island. Doesn't say whether she made a purchase though...

I would love to hear Beth on a twelve-string!

But a 'specific solid body electric twelve-string'? She might have been enquiring on behalf of her present accompanist.

A solid body 12 string...hmmm. She might be looking for a Rickenbacher, but those are usually hollow body or semi-hollow.
That guitar shop reminds me of the old Guitar Gallery in Chicago, nestled up under the el tracks. I saw all kinds of serious musicians while taking lessons for 12 weeks.
Notables, off the top of my head were Tommy Smothers and Pete Townshend.
The place had every type of guit-fiddle you could imagine
Yet another great shop was Biasco's, where one time I counted 115 Stratocasters all in a row. Looking back, I shoulda bought every damn one of them...I'd be rich now!
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy.

Or more likely buying him a gift for helping with the tour. :worthy:

It wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Holy crap!!!! I've been dying to go to that store. In fact, I have a friend that lives in Staten Island that was supposed to take me there, but I keep putting off going because of the 2 hour+ trip. (If I drove, it wouldn't take that long, but I have no license yet).

Crazy. I need to go there soon and drool over the guitars I can never afford.
